PartyPace

I developed an e-commerce website for athletic apparel that includes an AI FitFinder function.

Summary and Impact

I chose to create an activewear e-commerce website site called “Party Pace”, which is geared toward runners of all levels. Party Pace will sell apparel from top activewear and shoe brands such as Nike, Lululemon, Brooks, On Cloud, Hoka, Adidas, etc.

I included an AI feature in which the user can upload a video of them running as well input their level of athleticism, race length they’re training for (if any), fashion specifics, and any other necessities, and the AI will provide a list of recommended items based on their form, posture, and other details they’d input

Research

I interviewed 8 different candidates at different fitness levels, and found that most active people live very busy lives, and would like a one-stop-shop for their fitness apparel needs. In addition, businesses that offer custom recommendations for shoes and insoles (such as RoadRunner) are great - if the user has the time to go into the store and spare 30 minutes or so.

My market research supported this as well. I compared 4 different athletic e-commerce sites (RoadRunner, Amazon, REI, and Nike), and found that, on average, users need to check at least 3 different databases before finding that they need. Additionally, no one else is offering an AI generated fit finder, so this would be a very valuable feature.

I concluded that my product needs to have a wide range of brands, styles, and sizing, and the fit finder needs to be as intuitive and fun to use as possible.

Personas

My two main personas for this project are the Avid Runner and the Chill Cruiser

User Flow

It was imperative for me that this product is intuitive to use, and makes shopping for athletic apparel easy and fun, and stays up to date with trends and inclusivity. My AI Fit Finder also needs to take between 5-7 minutes to use, otherwise I’ll start to lose the user’s attention.

The Look

Running and working out in general can be very daunting for a lot of people. I wanted this experience to inspire the user to get active, whether than be running, hiking, going to a HIIT class, or just getting outside and moving.

I wanted to convey a fun, “party” vibe with the bold logo and bright colors.

Key Screens

I wanted the user to immediately feel encouraged upon opening the app, so I wanted to have strong colors and imagery (especially of people enjoying being active).

An e-commerce site is pretty straightforward - I wanted the user to be able to locate everything and have it be exactly where they’d expect to find it. No need to reinvent the wheel.

I want to create a sense of community with PartyPace. In an era where so many people work from home and automate almost every task they have, physical activity is one of the last primal things we have left.

This screen will begin the AI Fit Finder flow. Step by step instructions make it easy for the user to record their running video and quickly get their recommended shoes and/or insoles.

Conclusion

As a marathon runner, I really enjoyed this project because this is something I would absolutely use and recommend to fellow runners and athletes. I’ve never seen an AI FitFinder anywhere - you usually have to go into a store to get results like this.

Since I had such a personal tie to this project, I think that reflected in my execution.
